the fbi reveals details of a handwritten detail by the man accused in the deadly shooting at los angeles international airport. why investigators say the heavily armed gunman chose to target the busy airport terminal. now as he tries to leave the field, he's going to collapse, go to his knees. >> sideline scare. houston texans' head coach gary kubiak collapses during the sunday night football game, the second nfl head coach to be hospitalized over the weekend. and sky diver survival. a midair collision at 12,000 feet forces jumpers to make a life saving decision. >> wings came off, they were on fire, everybody got out safely. rings came off, everybody got out safely.

good morning. good to be with you. i'm ann marie green. gunman who opened fire at los angeles international airport has told police he acted alone. paul ciancia told police a friend dropped him off in front of terminal three on friday, he was carrying an assault rifle and five 30-round magazines and in his bag hundreds of more rounds. this morning, he's hospitalized, heavily sedated and under armed guard. theresa garcia reports. >> reporter: scott green was right there and ran for his life when a shooter opened fire friday at los angeles international airport. >> like he had his gun trained down like this, and he took two shots. >> reporter: police say it was 23-year-old paul ciancia who killed one tsa agent and wounded two others. investigators found a note in his duffel bag saying he wanted to kill multiple tsa agents, but so far the fbi has not found

evidence of any previous run-ins he may have had with the agency. >> i thought he was just a random passenger, very calm, stoic face. >> reporter: billy bay saw the suspect walk in with an assault rifle. he says it could have been worse. >> about 100 people under benches around him hiding. if he wanted to continue to shoot, he could have. i've read since he was targeting tsa, so maybe he wasn't looking for regular passengers. >> reporter: at l.a.x. sunday, terminal three was back in business. passengers streamed past the scene of the shooting while tsa agents had black bands on their badges in memory of their fallen colleague. theresa garcia, cbs news, los angeles. birmingham, alabama, airport is back in business after being forced to shut down due to a bomb threat yesterday. hundreds of passengers were evacuated for two hours after an airport employee found a threatening note in a bathroom. bomb squads swept the terminal

but found nothing. a dozen flights were either delayed or diverted. on wednesday, president obama travels to dallas where he'll meet with volunteers who were helping people enroll in the affordable care act. more congressional hearings are on tap, and a new poll indicated more americans are starting to understand what the health care law means to them. susan mcginnis is in washington. susan, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, ann marie. the president has become known for doing this when he's pushing a plan. he hits the road, tries to sell it directly to the american people. so he will do that this week as will some cabinet officials this time around. fanning out around the country, trying to get people to sign up. meanwhile, here in washington, more hearings are scheduled into the problems. president obama hits the road this week to build public support for the affordable care act. sunday a senior white house aide insisted the president was told

the healthcare.gov website would work on day one but says that's no excuse. >> it is getting this website working so that millions of americans have access to quality affordable health insurance. >> reporter: the website repeatedly crashed in first month and was down for repairs this weekend. a new poll shows 48% of believe the government has done a poor job of implementing the health care law. >> the website failures are absolutely inexcusable. we own that. that's on him. we have to fix it. we owe it to the american people to fix it. >> reporter: the white house says the site will be fixed by the end of the month, republicans are skeptical. >> they're trying to change a tire on a car going 75 miles an hour on an expressway. >> reporter: even democrats want healthcare.gov to be taken down for repairs. >> i said they ought to take down the website. >> reporter: americans are learning more about the new law. 55% of those polled say they now know enough to understand how it

impacts them, that's up 8% in the last month. two more hearings take place here this week on capitol hill. in the hot seat, repeat performances. tomorrow first, marilyn tavenner and wednesday, kathleen sebelius. anne-marie. >> thank you. this morning, the trial of egyptian mohamed morsi was adjourned because of violence insightment. they released this video it shows morsi in detention at a secret location. morsi hasn't been seen in public in four months. the trial location was changed at the last minute to try and avoid the mass rallies planned by morsi's brotherhood muslim supporters. if convicted, morsi could face the death penalty. and houston texans head coach gary kubiak is said to be in stable condition after a frightening incident on the

field during last night's football game against the indianapolis colts. the 52-year-old coach collapsed. and was taken to the hospital in front of thousands of spectators. jericka duncan is here with more. good morning. >> good morning, anne-marie. texans team officials say kubiak did not suffer a heart attack but say he was light-headed and dizzy when he collapsed. kubiak is the second nfl coach in as many days to be hospitalized after a medical emergency. >> they're going to circle him as he walks off the field. he's at the 25 yard line. there he is in the blue, and he will then go to his knees and collapse at the 24 yard line. >> reporter: cameras at houston's reliant stadium capturing the moment texans head coach gary kubiak collapsed on the field at sunday night's matchup at minneapolis. a staff member on the field quickly signals for help and moments later, kubiak is placed on a stretcher and taken to a

waiting ambulance. >> it was really weird, you know, i was coming in, started yelling for a trainer. they said that he had passed out. we were all very worried. >> reporter: just before kubiak collapsed, another camera shows the coach clutching his head with his eyes closed. the team said kubiak was conscious and was taken to the hospital. wade phillips took over coaching duties for kubiak in the second half. >> we had to adjust, not only with the head coach not being there, but, you know, it was a shock there. >> reporter: kubiak's collapse comes one day after denver broncos head coach john fox had to be hospitalized. fox became dizzy while golf north carolina income saturday and was told he needed a half valve replacement surgery. the 58-year-old coach was aware of his condition and had planned to have the surgery in february, tests showed he couldn't wait any longer.

fox is expected to have the surgery some time this week and will miss several of denver's games while he recuperates. houston's general manager hopes to have kubiak sometime today. >> houston ended up losing that game. we'll have the highlight. the miami dolphins amid growing controversy for alleged hazing. suspended because of alleged misconduct because of treatment of jonathan martin. martin left the team a week ago. the dolphins and the nfl are investigating the allegations. there are reports that young players are pressured to pay more than their share when the teammates go out on the town. coming up on the "cbs morning news," midair coalition. two skydiving planes collide. all on board are able to escape

to learn more. high winds battered a hi winds battered a floating bridge in seattle on saturday. police say about 50 terrified drivers abandoned their cars and ran to safety. no one was injured. the bridge was closed for a couple of hours until the winds died down. and two planes collided 12,000 feet over lake superior on saturday. they were filled with sky divers getting ready for the final jump of the day. and as elaine quijano tells us, what happens next is nothing short of a miracle. >> reporter: pieces are all that's left of this cessna 182 after it collided midair with another cessna supposed to be flying behind it. sky diver mike robinson was preparing to jump from the first plane when he heard a loud bang and saw a fiery flash. >> we were all on the step just

getting ready to leave the aircraft when they collided. >> reporter: robinson said is somehow the second plane ended up directly above his. it clipped the cessna's right ring. ten seconds later, the right wing came off and the fuselage went spiralling into the ground. the impact sent the sky divers into immediate free fall. >> the wings caught on fire. everyone got out safely. the pilot got out safely, used his emergency parachute and landed. >> reporter: all line jumpers and the two pilots walked away without serious injury. >> it's definitely a reminder of the danger of the sport that we all love. it is a dangerous -- can be a dangerous sport. it usually is not. we were just lucky this time. >> reporter: the federal aviation administration and the national transportation safety board are investigating what caused the coalition. elaine key nano, drbcbs news,

touchdown passes to wide receiver t.y. hilton. and with the colts leading by three in the final minute, houston kicker randy bullock misses a 55-yard attempt to tie the game. indianapolis twins 27-24. a record-setting afternoon in oakland for philadelphia quarterback nick foles. the eagles second string qb throws the touchdown holding a record by six other players including peyton manning. philadelphia beats oakland 49-20. patriots quarterback tom brady also let it fly on sunday. brady throws for more than 400 yards and four touchdowns including an 81-yard pass to aaron dobson. new england beats pittsburgh 55-31. and the washington redskins survive a late game scare. looks like san diego running back scores late in the fourth quarter.

the new york city marathon came storming back sunday. a record 50,000 runners pounded the pavement through all five boroughs putting superstorm sandy and the deadly boston marathon behind them. adriana diaz was at the finish line. >> reporter: the runners arrived in tutus, patriotic getups and exhaustion. sarah siegel was supposed to run last year but the race was canceled because of superstorm sandy which also hit her new jersey home. >> we had damage, we had no electricity and so, you know, this, after all of that training for 18 months, it's amazing. >> reporter: for others like boston native david hordier, the race was a comeback. he was caught in the chaos of the boston marathon bombing while finishing that race. >> my right foot was hit by a piece of shrapnel, and i've lost some hearing in both ears. >> reporter: he pounded the
